Securing a Brighter Future for Homeless Youth

This season, Navarro Insurance Agency would be honored to donate $10 in your name to help the homeless youth in the West Valley.

In 2015, the Department of Education reported that 29,763 children were homeless throughout the state of Arizona. Many homeless youth do what they have to do in order to survive, such as sleeping in cars, bartering for shelter, couch surfing, or residing with abusive family members. Without real support, such youth may find themselves in and out of jail, dependent on the welfare system, or living their lives in a chronic state of crisis and often in unsafe situations.

These students also face numerous barriers to education, keeping many of them from completing high school or achieving post-secondary education. A 2014 Arizona study found that approximately 18,000 children dropped out of school each year! This results in a lifetime cost to society of over $7.6 billion and an average cost of $422,000 per child. Without proper education or a diploma, unaccompanied youth end up contributing to unemployment rates in America.

Homeless Youth Connection (HYC) is a local nonprofit that provides basic needs, emotional support, and financial assistance to break the cycle of chronic homelessness for local youth. Since 2010, HYC has served more than 900 youths, ages 13 to 19 with basic needs, housing, and support.

“Our agency is committed to helping local youth secure a brighter future. Helping Homeless Youth Connection to achieve more is a great start,” says Carlos Navarro, agency owner.

Recently, there has been a 56 percent increase in foster care need locally which means more students than ever are in need of safe housing and basic necessities. This is how you can help.

Our agency will donate $10 in your name to HYC. Simply send a friend or family our way and we’ll even add you to our Quarterly $50 Gift Card drawing!
